Notes: Arguably America's most popular carver, offering hand-made pipes at globally competitive prices. Unlike many of his compatriots, Mark Tinsky never aimed for an exclusive reputation. He is a mid-grader by choice, rather than accident (or failure). In this, he is similar to some Italians. That also goes for his incredible output - MT can easily produce four or five pipes a day.

Mark's teenage son Glenn has started marketing pipes under his own name. They are currently quite similar to his father's work and seem very well made.

Comments: Part of Mark's success lies in his personality - witty, friendly and reliable. The other main ingredient is an excellent value-for-money ratio. Many US collectors who have 'progressed' to the ultra-expensive Danes and Germans continue to buy Tinskys - for the uncomplicated smoking joy they afford.
