Notes: Sören Refbjerg Rasmussen has been making pipes for over three decades. Formerly sold under the name 'Sören', his work was quite popular in the US during the era of large, fancy freehands. He has since reduced his output greatly and turned his attention to 'Danish classicism', stamping his more recent pipes as Refbjergs. Back to one-man production, part of his income stems from the sale of briar to other Danish carvers.

Comments: Eschewing high-grade flair, Refbjergs represent a utilitarian tradition seldom associated with Denmark. All the same, they display ample attention to detail and symmetry at a reasonable price. Bits are thin and comfortable, and proportions usually pleasing. The fact that Rasmussen's work is rather rare may attract collectors of more exclusive Danish pipes - despite his relatively modest focus.
