Notes: Founded before 1900, Peterson makes pipes in the old English style, despite its seat in Dublin. The brand's once solid reputation has suffered greatly in recent years, with smokers complaining about badly finished pipes and an abundance of fills. The piece shown here is over 40 years old.

The firm makes some 125,000 pipes a year, with numerous series names indicating the grade.

Comments: I disagree with most Peterson critics in that I still regard the lower grades as great value-for-money smokers - but I would not buy an expensive Peterson today.
