Notes: Also known as Björn of Sweden, Bengtsson currently only makes about 50 pipes a year. His career dates back to 1962, when he started as an apprentice for Poul Rasmussen. The production date (year and month) is stamped on each pipe. The piece shown was made in December, 1986.

In some circles, Björn Bengtsson's reputation in the 1980s was almost on a par with Bo Nordh's. People who own more recent pipes say that quality has not suffered.

Bengtsson was the original inventor of the Golden Contrast finish now often attributed to Tom Eltang.
